Synopsis: He is a man of simple tastes—and complex pleasures…
Cameron Mackenzie is a man who loves only horses and women—in that order—or so his mistresses say.
Ainsley Douglas is a woman with a strong sense of justice and the desire to help others—even if that means sneaking around a rakish man’s bedchamber.
Which is exactly where Cam finds her—six years after he caught her the first time. Only then, she convinced Cam she was seeking a liaison, but couldn’t go through with it because of her husband. Now a widow, she’s on a mission to retrieve letters that could prove embarrassing to the queen. Cam has no interest in Ainsley’s subterfuge, but he vows to finish what they started those many years ago. One game, one kiss at a time, he plans to seduce her. And what starts out as a lusty diversion may break Cam’s own rules—and heal the scars of a dark and damaging past…

Would I read it again:
This book may contain explicit intimate scenes, so if you are not 18+ then I probably wouldn’t recommend it for younger readers.
My Opinion
Cam is the second oldest of the Mackenzie brother’s lot – also the tallest and biggest. Whom would of thought that this man whom appeared tough and fearsome, was actually a tortured soul, both on the outside as well on the inside? Cam has closed himself off from feeling any romantic feelings for any women after his disastrous marriage to his deceased wife, whom verbally and physically abused him an even once tried to harm their son Daniel. He also bares the scars from it as proof, but hides it under his clothing.
I think Ainsley was perfect for him. From the start Cam was smitten with her but didn’t want to own up to these feelings that she stirred in him. I love how throughout the story he kept asking her, “How many buttons will you undo for me today?”, an if he didn’t get the number he wanted, he bartered for more. He was also the more dirty talker of the brothers but oh well, I liked the man anyways.
He only wanted her for bed sport (technically not in the bed has he has a fear of lying asleep with a women due to his deceased wife’s violent ways) but half way through he threw in the towel and offered her marriage to keep her close to him. You could see the vulnerability in him when she had to leave to tend to personal/business issues and he told her she wouldn’t come back, that women always leave and never stay, but she proved him wrong by that.
So far, I have loved all these books an I intend to snarf them down like a delicious piece of candy, one by one. I cannot wait to see what is in store for the rest of the family and series.
