If you are a historical romance author (please no contemporary review requests as I am selective on who I read) and fancy a review of your book, then feel free to email me. However I do not guarantee that I will read your book as the book synopsis has to hold my interest. The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie

Friday, October 2nd, 2015

Author: Jennifer Ashley
Publication date: August 28, 2009
Series: MacKenzies & McBrides #1
Pages: 338
Genre: Historical, Romance
Synopsis: It was whispered all through London Society that Ian Mackenzie was mad, that he’d spent his youth in an asylum, and was not to be trusted — especially with a lady.

Yet Beth found herself inexorably drawn to the Scottish lord. Despite his decadence and his intimidating intelligence, she could see that he needed help- her help.

Because suddenly the only thing that made sense to her was…the Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie.

Love Factor (How much I loved it):
Would I recommend it:
Would I read it again:

This book may contain explicit intimate scenes, so if you are not 18+ then I probably wouldn’t recommend it for younger readers.

My Opinion

This is the first time that I have read any book where the main character has a form of autism (Asperger’s – a light form). I don’t suffer from it nor do I personally know someone really well who has this but I am a bit familiar with some of the characteristics that one displays when they are diagnosed with this disorder an I feel like Jennifer portrayed Ian wonderfully and quiet accurate. He is a very bright, smart individual whom does not know how to lie, read emoticons, never forgets a conversation spoken between one another, can master just about any language in a timely manner but yet is deemed by others as a mad man whom has explosive rages. I love how upon first laying eyes on Beth that he decides that he wants her, and to have her forever he sets his sights on having her as his wife which he ends up following her to Paris to pursue her where he finally corners her into marriage (as you may know when a Mackenzie pursues a lady, they are relentless).

I also love how Beth becomes Ian’s safe heaven – his security blanket. He will not allow anyone else to touch him nor will he willingly look another soul in the eye but with Beth, he can. He believes he is not capable of loving her but he soon finds out he is capable of such things and more.

I really enjoyed reading this an ate it up within about 2 days an afterwards plowed straight into Mac an Isabella’s story. I cannot wait to read about all the Mackenzies and the McBrides.
