My Opinion

When I first begun reading this, I didn’t know what to make of Dru as she is different from all the other heroines that I’ve read. She is tough – bad ass -, knows how to use a gun and can defend herself like it’s nobodies business. She is a little rough around the edges, but when her nieces or nephews are around, she turns into a whole different person – kind, patient, and loving towards them. I really loved those scenes that Becky included as it shows an extremely different side of her.

I really, an I mean really, loved Dru and Gray’s banter. Becky writes great books, yes, but I believe that this one had the most and best banter dialog between the hero and heroine. They both had me chuckling many times throughout the book. I also liked how Gray was depicted, his description was a lot different from her other heroes. He was 6’4, dark hair, green eyes, had a tattoo starting on his pectoral muscle that wraps around the top of his arm (google Dwayne Johnson’s shoulder tattoo, it will give you a physical image of what Gray’s tattoo could look like), and the man is built like a brick shit house. I kept picturing Dwayne Johnson’s build and tattoo when Becky would describe Gray. I loved how he liked to rile Dru and get her dander up – he always got a kick out of that. Gray may appear as the big tough NFL player, but inside he’s not. Growing up, he had a hard life, abusive at times from his stepfather. In high school, he discovered football, which became his outlet. Gray doesn’t do long term relationships nor does he know how to ‘love’ a woman as he doesn’t want to end up in a toxic relationship like his mother. I like how Dru slowly seeps under Gray’s skin and he can’t shake her. She is different, isn’t intimidated by him, and can stand toe to toe to him unlike anyone else, plus she truly understands him like no one else ever has.

Aside from Dru and Gray’s story, you get updated on Meg and Bo’s struggle to start a family. I am glad that everything turned out beautiful for them. I am also happy that Dru and Gray got their HEA but yet it saddens me that this is the end of the Porter novels as I have fallen in love with the Porter clan as I am sure other readers have as well. I for one cannot wait for new material from Becky in the near future.
